Promoting Well Being & Positive Mental Health

We understand the great need to not only deal with physical health but also mental health. Classes have time at the start of each day to complete circle activities or give individuals time to share worries and hold restorative conversations about how we treat each other.

We have a dedicated well-being team for pupils struggling with relationships, engaging with learning or regulating their emotions (see Meet the Well Being Team).

Approaches and strategies used to develop good personal development for students with complex SEND by class staff and the Well Being Team include:

  • SMILE (more details on SMILE approach tab, with ideas and activities)
  • Zones of Regulation
  • Restorative circles & conversations
  • Happiness boxes
  • Sensory diets/breaks/circuits (see Occupational Therapy Family Pack)
  • Talk time
  • Relaxation
  • Reflection
  • Social stories
  • Comic Strip Conversations
For our whole school approach to good Personal development and Wellbeing see the policy section in 'about us'.
