Step into Sport Camp
20th October 2015
On Friday 16th October ten students from Slated Row attended the Milton Keynes and Bucks ‘Step Into Sport Camp’ at Stoke Mandeville stadium.
The main aim of the day was to develop leadership skills in students with and without special educational needs. They looked at their communication and organisations skills to improve their ability to lead activities and to inspire them to volunteer in sport.
Our Post 16 student Merson Souster was chosen as the Young Role Model through the volunteering and leadership he has taken part in previously. Merson was mentored by Ian Rose, two times Paralympic Judo Medalist. Ian and Merson ran a workshop together and finished off by Merson giving a talk entitled 'My Journey' to the 65 Young Leaders and 15 staff present. He was a credit to Slated Row School and was commended by Ian and the staff present.
''Just a quick email to say thank you for asking me to be part of such a fantastic day and a big congratulations to Merson on everything he has achieved.'' Ian Rose.
At school we look forward to the Young Leaders running lunch time and after school activities to practice their newly acquired skills.
