MK Youth Elections 2017

15th May 2017

Slated Row students in KS3, KS4 and Post-16 were fortunate enough to be involved and take part in the Milton Keynes Youth Parliament Elections 2017.

Roz Mascarenhas from the Youth Participation Team at Milton Keynes Council visited our students and spoke to them about the upcoming elections and the candidates they could vote for. In addition to explaining their individual manifestos, she also introduced the topics students could vote for as priorities for the Milton Keynes Youth Parliament.

Slated Row was lucky enough to be lent 3 official booths, with which we were able to transform the library into a polling station for the morning! Students then came by class to the polling station and voted for the candidate and priorities they had decided on.

Slated Row received particular praise for our high voter turnout of 93% and was rewarded with a Platinum Award for our participation.
