  1. Student Support Worker

The Old School Project is based at a Grade 2 listed building in Old Wolverton, located next door to Slated Row School.  Slated Row School are a strategic partner in the project, which will provide invaluable work experience and life skills to students with special needs. The students will support the provision of community facilities for the local community and the operation of a 3 bedroomed Guest House for use by work and leisure visitors to Wolverton and wider Milton Keynes.

The Project Officer will be responsible for overseeing the establishment and day-to-day running of the project including managing the work of two part-time staff. You will have proven project management skills and experience of community projects. You will be a creative problem solver, with an ability to establish new systems and procedures to support the smooth operation of the building. Your excellent interpersonal and communication skills will enable you to relate to a wide range of organisations and the wider public.  You will help to ensure that Future Wolverton develops a sustainable community business which delivers significant social impact for the local area.

The Project Assistant will work alongside the Project Officer and assist with overseeing the establishment and running of the project.  You will have strong administrative skills and experience of financial systems and procedures. Your practical approach to problem solving will be complemented by your strong communication skills, and an ability to relate to members of the local community and students with special needs.

The Student Support Worker will assist students from Slated Row School to carry out work experience tasks on the project. You will have previous experience of working with children or with adults who have special needs and assisting them to carry out tasks independently.  You need to be a practical person with a willingness to use your life skills in cooking, cleaning, gardening and DIY to support the learning experiences to small groups of students. You will be working alongside teaching staff from Slated Row School, so experience of working with or alongside a school would be desirable.

Future Wolverton is committed to the safeguarding of young people. All three posts will be subject to enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. Future Wolverton, in partnership with Slated Row School, will be following safer recruitment processes.

The project office will be based at Foundation House, The Square Wolverton and all post holders will be required to work both in the office and in the Old School Building.
